Our water ionizers do contain a filter that removes chlorine, chloramines, sediment, VOCs, unpleasant tastes and odors, dirt, sand, rust, silt, and other organic materials. Depending on your source water, a pre-filter may be recommended. If so, I will work directly with you to help you find the best fit for your circumstances.

Reverse osmosis is a filtering process that may be effective in areas that do not receive municipally treated water and is commonly used in bottled water facilities. The problem with this process is that reverse osmosis removes healthy, naturally-occurring minerals in the water. These minerals not only provide taste, but they also serve a vital function in the body’s system. When stripped of these minerals, water can become unhealthy. Adding minerals back into this type of water was once thought to be a solution but we now know that adding synthetic minerals back into our water can cause health concerns of their own.

The maintenance is minimal but yes, there is some maintenance involved. Our ionizers have a built-in automatic self-clean mechanism which is activated for 10 seconds when continual water flow reaches 15 minutes. In areas with high mineral content, switching to the 6.0 'Beauty Water' setting reverses the polarization of the electric current, helping to dissolve and remove calcium buildup in the electrolysis cell.
The internal filter is designed to last for approximately 1,500 gallons before needing replacement. Depending on usage, your filter will last anywhere from 6 months to a year. For optimal performance, an annual deep cleaning by a certified technician at an Enagic Office is recommended.
