How To Get Your Prayers Answered
Do you feel like your prayers are not answered? Here is how to get your prayers answered by using the armor of God as your guide.
Prayer is a spiritual communication between man and God. It is the fundamental of the Christian faith. It is a two-way relationship which man does not only talk to God but also listen to Him.
Naturally, a child will ask his father for the things he needs without any fear. He has relationship with the father and is assured of his love for him, this alone draws him to ask anything from him without any doubt.
When you receive Christ into your heart, you become a child of God and have the privilege of talking to Him at any time in prayer and about anything. The Christian life is a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. It is a relationship that last till eternity.
So as a child of God, there are many promises in God’s Word which encourages you to pray, such as; “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). “Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling” (Psalms 91:9-10). “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trust in You” (Isaiah 26:3). The Scriptures also tells us that we should pray for one another and assures us that God hears and answers our prayers.
Praying with your Understanding
Praying with your understanding must first come from your heart. The motive behind your prayers is key. Why are you praying and for what purpose?
Also believing in Whom you’re praying to and undoubtedly ready to receive your answers. “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:24).
Besides, you can only share your deepest need and secret with someone you know and relate with and knows can be of help. You would not know where to begin and how to pray when you do not have any relationship with your heavenly Father. Prayer is how we communicate with our Heavenly Father and getting direct access to Him.
Putting on the Whole Armor of God when Praying
As a Christian, you are empowered because of your union with Christ, and you pray to God through His righteousness and the victory He has already won for you.
Therefore, be strong in the Lord and draw your strength from Him, that strength which His boundless might provide. Then you put on the whole armor of God with which you may be able to successfully stand against all the strategies and the deceits of the devil. The Bible says, “for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12 NKJV).
Satan’s war against God’s people follows an organized strategy. Principalities refers to his head officers; wiles refers to clever plans, crafty deceptions, and cunning methods. So, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:11-12).
When Christians put on the armor of God, we are putting on Christ Himself (Rom. 13:14). He is the one who fights Satan on our behalf.
In Ephesians 6:12-13, every time Paul mentions another class of spiritual beings, he reaffirms that we wrestle against them.
Think of a Christian rowing a boat against the current, trying to make spiritual progress in one direction while Satan turns the current of the world in the opposite direction. People (flesh and blood) may persecute, betray, or hurt God’s children, but Christians must never forget that the real battle is against Satan; he is the one who brings evil into our lives and tempts us to sin. Believers who view other people as the enemy will not be able to vanquish the true foe. “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all, to stand”(Ephesians 6:13).
Christians need all the armor God has provided to defend against Satan’s attacks. We must not choose one piece of armor over another to suit our preferences; we must be proficient in using every piece.
Here 6 Armors to fight with in your Prayers
Spiritual battles must be fought with spiritual weapons. The Christian’s fight is not with arguments or violence but with:
1. The waist belt of truth (Ephesians 6:14)
2. The breastplate of righteousness (Ephesians 6:14)
3. Feet protected by the gospel of peace (Ephesians 6:15)
4. The shield of faith (Ephesians 6:15)
5. The helmet of salvation (Ephesians 6:17)
6. The sword of the Spirit, the word of God (Ephesians 6:17)
Thankfully, our spiritual armor is to be used in a war that has already been won by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Every Christian is marked with the blood which scares Satan. It is said of Napoleon Bonaparte that as he attempted to conquer all the kingdoms of the known world, he spread out a map on a table, pointed to a specific place, and said to his lieutenants, “Sirs, if it weren’t for that red spot, I could conquer the world.”
The spot to which he pointed was the British Isles, the very nation that met Napoleon at Waterloo in Belgium and defeated him in league with a group of nations. Anytime he talks to his demons about conquering you, he sees the blood and says, if it had not been the spilled blood of Christ, I would have conquered them.
There is no doubt that when Satan talks with his minions about conquering the world, he says the same thing about the red hilltop of Calvary where Christ’s blood was spilled: “if it were not for that red spot, I could rule the world!”
But that red spot is what makes all the difference in our spiritual battle. We do not have to live in fear of the devil.
We need enter only the spiritual battle to which we have been called aware of its reality and its subtlety and armed with the truth that the ultimate victory against Satan has already been achieved. Therefore, right now at this moment we are “more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37)!
