You are No Longer a Slave
You are no longer a slave but a son and a daughter and an heir of God through Christ who has redeemed us from our sins.
But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons (Galatians 4:4-5).
We were all once children of this world, in bondage and under the elements of it. A child, despite his position as an heir, is a slave with no rights in the household until the father decided it was time for that child to enter into the rights of his inheritance. Likewise, the law functioned as a guardian for God’s people until the appointed time determined by God the Father. The coming of Christ freed us believers to receive our spiritual inheritance and live as mature sons and daughters of God.
The law treats people as infants, telling us what to eat, what to wear, and when to go. Such legalism produces spiritual immaturity and leaves us in bondage. “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ” (Colossians 2:8).
Figuratively speaking, God’s calendar had a day with a big star on it, when the time was right for Christ to be sent forth into this world. Jesus was born under the law so that He could fulfill every claim and demand of the law on our behalf. He fulfilled the moral law in His life and the ceremonial law in His death.
When someone buys a slave, the buyer could either own and use the slave or set the slave free. When God purchases or redeems people through Christ, He does so in order to set them free. Because we are not natural children of God (like the Israelites), we can become sons and daughters only by divine adoption (John 1:12).
Christians have all we need in Jesus Christ!

- Have you accepted that you are an heir of God through Christ.
