The Eleventh-Hour Blessing
And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle and said to them, Why have you been standing here idle all day? They said to him, because no one hired us,….. Matthew 20:6-7.
Jesus told this parable to illustrate His proverb that “the first will be last, and the last first” (Matthew 19:30). The landowner hired workers at 9am, noon, 3pm and finally 5pm. The group hired at the end of the day would have included the sort of workers nobody wants to hire.
The parable reveals important truths about God’s grace. No matter how many hours they worked all workers were paid the same wage.
The workers hired first represents Israel, the recipients of God’s covenant promise, “Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh – who are called by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands, Ephesians 2:11.” Those hired last, at the end of the day, represent the Gentiles, who were offered the same salvation available to the Jews through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:13-15).
I do not know how your life has been in the last ten months, but the Lord who sees and knows your needs will suddenly bring you a breakthrough. The grace of God is available to all. It does not matter who have gone ahead of you in life, when your time comes the Lord will restore all the wasted years unto you. “But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2Peter 3:8”
As His grace and salvation reached those who were last and nobody wanted them, in the same way, even though it seems like you are last and everyone is going ahead of you, hold on for this is your time and season for your breakthrough. It’s your restoration time, your come back time, the Lord will catapult you 50 years ahead of your competitors. All your lost years will be restored back to you.
Its your eleventh hour and you will receive the same wages as those who have gone ahead of you. Hold on! Don’t give up yet!
Consider this:
- Are you fearful because nothing seems to be working for you?
- Do you believe that this is your eleventh hour and the salvation of God has come to you?
Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your grace and mercies that a new every morning. I know that this is my time, this is my season of restoration of all the wasted years. Amen!
