As You Have Believed
Go your way, and as you have believed, so let it be done for you. And his servant was healed that same hour Matthew 8:13.
A centurion, an officer who commanded 100 soldiers asked Jesus to heal his servant. The centurion knew, from his own experience of giving commands, that Jesus only had to speak a word and the servant would be healed.
Jesus “marveled, and said to those who followed… “I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” Such great faith comes when we believe what we do not see, when we trust Jesus to do what seems impossible. Such faith pleases Him.
When you read Matthew 8:5-13, you will find how the story of the centurion and Jesus started.
The centurion did not only have faith, but he also believed in Jesus’ power, authority and ability to heal the servant. And as Jesus said, “as you have believed, so let be done for you!”
It was the believe of the centurion that made the servant well. If you will only believe in the word of God (which is His promises in the Bible), you will receive answers to your prayers quickly.
Just as Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, when he was told that his daughter was dead in Luke 8:50, He said to him, “Do not be afraid, only believe and she will be made well.
Are you afraid because of the report you have heard?
In this story in Luke 8:50, although Jairus’ (ruler of the synagogue) daughter had been reported dead, Jairus makes no effort to stop Jesus from going to his home, because, unlike his associates, who believed that death is final, he believed that Jesus could still help him. Because of Jesus, death never has the last word.
You receive what you believe!
Consider this:
- Can you only believe in Jesus and be set free?
- Whose report do you believe? And what is making you afraid?
Prayer: Father, I thank You for the promises in Your Word, help me to take Your promises as it is and believe in them for every situation in my life, for it’s Your spoken word to me. Amen!
