Discover the Will and Wisdom of God
Do you desire to discern and discover the will and wisdom of God for your life? Here are some truth you need to know.
For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (Colossians 1:9).
The will of God and the wisdom of God are inseparably linked with saturation in the Word of God. Godly wisdom is gained by studying His Word; spiritual understanding is how his children discern His will. Both wisdom and understanding are gifts of the Spirit (spiritual); they do not come from an unspiritual or ‘fleshy’ mind.
Such spiritual knowledge provides insight into God’s will. However, no one can anticipate the will of a stranger. Those of us who long to discern the will of God discover it in our growing knowledge of who God is and what he wants (Eph. 5:17; 2Pet 3:18).
God has numbered each person’s days. Because our lifetimes are limited, we should view each day as a precious gift to be lived wisely and according to the will of the Lord.
His will is laid out in the guidelines He has given in the Bible. But most Christians of today do not open their Bibles to read, but rather depend on prayer-lines as their daily devotion and guidance.
I’m not saying that going on a prayer-line is wrong but not reading your Bible and not spending time with God on your own deprives you of knowing God for yourself and also you may be swayed from the truth.
So the way to avoid being led away in error is to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. “…. beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with error of the wicked, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:17b-18).”
Knowing the Word matures you to become what you were intended to be, and you discover what the will and wisdom of God is in your life (Ephesians 4:14-15).
Immature believers are easy targets for false teachers!
Consider this:
- Do you spend time daily in the word of God?
- Do you live according to the will of God?
Prayer: Father, I thank You and I ask You today to fill me with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and Spiritual understanding, living worthy of You. Amen!
