How to Please the Lord
To walk worthy of the Lord, you will have to know how to please the Lord. Gaining knowledge of God will help you please Him, find out how.
That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:10).
The better a person knows God and His Word, the better he or she knows what is pleasing to Him – a knowledge that becomes second nature, producing confidence by discerning God’s will rather than fear. This knowledge produces fruitful character, conduct, conversation, and contributions (giving of resources). It rely solely on experience; we progress in our understanding of God as we progress in our understanding of His Word. People who take God’s Word seriously don’t just read it to see what it says; they make it a map for life so they can learn what to do-and then they do it.
When we please the Lord constantly, that is our Christian walk. When we produce fruit consistently, that is our Christ work. When we progress in knowledge continually, that is our Christian wisdom. When we persevere in stress cheerfully, that is our Christian welfare. When we praise God correctly, that is our Christian worship.
We can only gain insight of who God is, have knowledge of Him and please Him only when we read and study the Word (Bible) consistently, understand what it says and live accordingly by it. Most us rush through the Bible without taking time to understand and apply the Word to our lives. It seems it feels good to say, “I read my Bible today” without getting the wisdom and knowledge in it.
The calling of God’s children is a holy calling, a humble calling, and a heavenly calling.
Consider this:
- How much do you desire to please God?
- Are being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God?
Prayer: Father, I thank You that You are my God and my savior, help me to bear fruit in every good work and increase in the knowledge of You.
