By Faith We Understand
As Christians, by faith we understand that our confidence and trust in God’s Word and promises will lead us to an expected end.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. Hebrews 11:1
Behind the physical reality of the universe lies a greater reality; the invisible God who has created all things by His word (Genesis 1:1). Faith helps us to understand the universe in a way that science cannot, giving particular insight into its Creator and Designer.
Faith is our positive response to God for all that He has already done. Real faith does not bypass the mind and the emotions. Faith treats the things hoped for as a fact and places confidence today in what has been promised for the future.

It is an absolute conviction-based on the assurance of God’s unchangeable and perfect character-that God’s promises will be fulfilled. For the unbeliever, “Seeing is believing,” For the believer, “Believing is seeing.” In a similar vein, intellectual understanding or warm feelings do not qualify as biblical faith if they do not lead to trust and action. Faith is an action word.
For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? Romans 8:24
Our faith in God should not be based on what see but on His Word and promises. In Hebrews 11, we read about the men and women of God who against all odds stood for God in their times of uncertainty and they prevailed and received what they hoped for.
The same with us today, when we have faith in God and put our trust in His promises, and not doubting, we shall receive what we ask for according to His will.
You can dedicate your whole life to God and walk with Him, seeking Him diligently and you will not be disappointed.
Enoch was someone who sought the Lord and the Lord took him. Genesis 5:24; And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
Enoch was seventh in the line of Adam and the great-grand father of Noah. He lived in a time of wicked rebellion that would culminate in the Flood. Yet he was faithful to God and in constant relationship with Him all of his days.
Have faith in God and live for Him!
These are three aspect of faith:
- Perception (The Mind); A person cannot have saving faith unless the mind embraces the content of the gospel. You must accept the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus as fact and then understand the personal implications of those events in your life. Faith is not blind, but it is only as valid as the truthfulness of its object.
- Persuasion (The Emotions); Although you may be under persuasion at the same time you receive knowledge, you may know the gospel but do not accept the gospel. Faith is a real conviction based upon the revelation of God, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).
- The Will; In this aspect, a person’s will responds with a personal commitment to and complete acceptance of the Christian’s only hope for eternal salvation. Saving faith, then, consists of someone embracing all of Christ with their whole being.
Real faith does not bypass the mind and the emotions. In a similar vein, intellectual understanding or warm feelings do not qualify as biblical faith if they do not lead to trust and action. Faith is an action word, Faith does, Faith works.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
I pray for you that you will live and walk-in faith with your mind, emotions and will, embracing all of Christ with your whole being in Jesus name. Amen!
