What To Do When Life Puts You Down
Life is full of ups and downs but those who prevail are the ones who do not give up no matter how life puts them down. So what do you do?
Issues may come, struggles, pain, betrayal, abuse, unfaithfulness from your partner may happen but in all these things, when you are able to turn your problems to the Lord you will overcome and succeed.
Joseph’s story in Genesis 39, is clear example of those who puts their trust in God in all circumstances in life.
Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. And Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him down there. The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian, Genesis 39:1-2.
Joseph was a slave at Potiphar’s house because his own brothers sold him into slavery. Even though he was a slave in a foreign land, he showed great faith and righteousness. He continued to trust in God and remained faithful to him.
Although Joseph was physically alone, the Lord was with him. Because of this support, Joseph not only endued but prospered. The same is true for all of God’s servants and Christians, no matter your circumstance, your fellowship with the Lord means freedom from fear and loneliness.
But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. Isaiah 43:1-2

Just like in Joseph’s case, he attributed his success as the favor of God and God being with him. So he allowed the Lord to work things out for him in Egypt, a foreign land. And at the end of it all, he overcame the lies from his boss’s (Potiphar) wife, and his imprisonment to become the Prime Minister of Egypt because the Lord was with him.
