You Have Everything in Christ
As a Christian you have everything in Christ. You do not lack in any good thing, for God has blessed you before the foundation of the world.
That you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ (1Corinthians 1:5-7).
Paul reminds the Corinthians of the privileges that are theirs in Christ, which is also available to those of us who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus. We were enriched with spiritual gifts in abundance, established (confirmed) on an absolutely secure foundation, and equipped (short in no gift) with everything we needed for godly life and practice (Ephesians 1:3).
You are the most gifted person here and now because of your faith in Christ. You have everything, every spiritual blessing needed for your spirit, soul, and body, for the past, present and future; for your salvation and service; for time and eternity; for both now and forever. The spiritual blessings believers have in Christ encompass every need and aspect of our lives.
In Ephesians 1:3; Paul specifies that these blessings are in the heavenly places so that we will understand; this promise is not one of earthly blessings that will pass away but of spiritual blessings that will endure forever!
With the phrase all utterance, Paul is thinking of spiritual gifts. The use of spiritual gifts by the Corinthians became an area of significant concern because the gifts were not used for its rightful purpose. In God, Paul had confidence regarding these gifts. In the Corinthians, Paul found reason for concern.
You are not only enriched by Christ, you were confirmed (established) by Him, with nothing lacking in your spiritual upbringing.
Because God is our source, this wealth can never be depleted and can never be lost!
Consider this:
- How are you using the spiritual gifts God has given you through Christ?
- Do you walk in the spiritual gifts and privileges available to you through Christ?
Prayer: Father, I thank You for enriching me with utterance and knowledge and every spiritual blessing. Open my heart to receive these spiritual gifts and live the victorious life You have for me. Amen!
