7 Ways to Deal with Pressure & Anxiety
In one way or the other, we all at a point in our lives have to deal with pressure and anxiety from different sources. But how you respond to these pressures really matters.
Mothers usually deal with a lot of pressure and anxiety especially when it comes to maintaining their homes and their children’s well-being. But if you could only cast your cares on the Lord, you will have peace in dealing with every situation.
I read the introduction of 2 Peter and I realized that Peter was in prison when he wrote this his last epistle. My take here is, at the time when he should be pity-partying about his demise, he puts his death sentence pressure aside and was concern about the church and his fellow Christians faith.
This is one thing that is hard for most of us to do, letting go of our pain to take care of someone’s pain. As much as it’s not easy to do, it’s the most rewarding thing you could do for your life, the outstanding joy that follows is beyond imagination, and reliefs your anxiety.
As I continue with Peter’s story, his concern was the false teachers who has infiltrated the young church, promoting immoral ungodly, living by denying that Christ was not going to return to judge sin.
Instead of concentrating on the false teachers and how to deal with them, for causing discord, raising doubt, creating havoc, he strongly advised that the people/church to;
- Cling to the promises of God.
- Instead of wasting their time to refute the false teachings, he restates his apostolic teaching of the great transforming truths of the Christian faith and urges Christians to live them out. This is a good plan for us all.
What a positive way of handling issues!
The Lessons I Learnt
- Don’t waste your time on people who are doing wrong or wrongfully trying to destroy you. Rather cling to the promises of God.
- Hold on to the transforming truth of the Christian faith.
So whatever your situation, whatever your current pressures or anxieties, or doubts, whatever any skeptic is telling you, take time to consider the promises of God.
Here are 7 ways you can use the promises of God to work for you in any situation.
- Write out the promises of God from the Bible concerning that particular situation, e.g. sickness, finances, mental issues etc…..
2. Memorize the scripture – to help you do that, write the scripture on a card that you can keep in your handbag or wallet to carry with you wherever you go to read it as often as possible.
3. Ponder them in your head – take time to think about what the scripture says about your situation and mediate on it.
4. Claim them – take hold of the promises and claim what it says over your life.
5. Pray them back to the Lord – you take God’s word back to Him, asking Him to consider His words concerning you situation.
6. Remember what a magnificent God we serve.
7. And then act on what you know, because time is fleeting.
Make it a point to not waste your time to explain yourself about a situation you can’t change.
Spend less time worrying and more time clinging to the promises of God. “For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he….” Proverbs 23:7a
Honestly, taking care of children is not an easy task, it only becomes easy when we place our children in the hands of God. That’s why God wants us to Know Him to Influence our Children. Click here to Join the our FREE 21-Days Knowing God to Influence your Children Challenge.
I love what Psalms 127 stands for, it talks about laboring and prospering with the Lord in your home. The verse 1 begins with the most important truth in establishing a home: unless “the Lord builds” it, it will not work. The family was His idea, and He wants to be the Head of every household.
Until God is made the Head, all attempts to establish a strong family will end in frustration (labor in vain). Let’s keep trusting God with our children.
