Money is a Gift not a Goal
Money is a means of exchange in our world, and because of that most of us don’t see that money is a gift not a goal. Find out!
There is a severe evil which I have seen under the sun; Riches kept for their owner to his hurt. But those riches perish through misfortune; when he begets a son, there is nothing in his hand (Ecclesiastes 5:13-14).
Solomon describes an all too common scenario as a severe evil, the hard-working man leaves the world as poor as when he entered it. God grants the ability to earn money and the ability to enjoy it. Both are a gift not a cause for worry. “Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy (1 Timothy 6:17).
Here are some 5 truths about money;
- The more you have, the more you want.
- The more you have, the more you spend
- The more you have, the more you worry
- The more you have, the more you lose
- The more you have, the more you leave.
Whatever we have is from God, so it is His to do with as He pleases. When all is said and done, our ability to earn money is God’s gift to us. He gave us the ability to earn what we have; we need the same ability to enjoy it.
So the money you have is a gift from God, don’t pursue money as the main goal in your life, see it as a blessing from your labor.
Matthew 6:33 says, seek first the kingdom of God and He will supply all of these things. But anyone who inverts the process and lives as if money was the goal will miss not only the joy of what he or she has but will miss the sense of God’s blessing on his or her life.
Only God can supply the wisdom to know what to do with what a person has.
Consider this:
- Do you know that all you have is from God?
- Is seeking after money your goal in life?
Prayer: Father, thank You for granting me the ability to earn money and the ability to enjoy it. Let me always remember that all I have is from You. Amen!
